Brookgreen Shawl Finished

The story here is more about the photo taking session. It's me with my new haircut trying to look sophisticated (impossible).

The length is very impressive here. I blocked the #$^%$ out of this thing. Made is less bouncy, but drapes nicely.
A shorter look when wrapped around my body. Nice and warm.
This shows the back (top) and front of the shawl at the same time. I almost like the back better.
Steve just takes pictures. He doesn't really look at his subject too often and never waits until I am ready.
The back view! Wouldn't you think he would have mentioned that it wasn't really draped well. At least I can enjoy that the huge backside has shrunk a bit.

I need a more involved photographer. Meghan-n-n-n-n-n!

I knit this lengthwise, in the round, and cut a steek. I think I'll offer it as a class for there is much to learn.

Finally I Blocked Them

Finally I blocked my 2nd Clapotis and 2nd Swallowtail. They are bea-u-ti-ful.

The Clapotis greatly improved upon pinning it out to block. It is now shawl size and yet the pattern allows it to collapse around my neck like a large scarf.

This is the Clapotis I wrote about Nov.22. My pics aren't great because it is way more gorgeous than this. The Sea Silk is fantastic. Great hand, drape, and stability.





I'm working on scheduling my classes and will post them soon. One will be a beaded lace scarf. I want everyone to have a beaded lace piece because they make you feel elegant.

Secret of the Chrysopolis

I think I'm becoming a Secret-ho. I'm trying to knit two new ones and still haven't blocked the Mystery Stole #3. I haven't started the Secret of the Stole yet because my beads are on order. But I have been working on the Chrysopolis.

There are issues. First, I didn't have enough of the Mysti Alpaca Lace that I wanted to use. I ordered more thinking I could work with the dye lot difference. Well, 948 dye lots later the color isn't even close. Can't intertwine rows unless I want a striped lace shawl. But I was over halfway through the first clue. Fine. I'll just use the stuff and dye the whole stole after I finish.

But will I ever finish? This is taking me a long time. I can't find a way to mark the rows so I just repeat a small pattern many times across. I mean I am having to pay close attention on every RS row. We're talking lots of markers; highlighter, sticky notes, and magnet row markers on the chart. The click that allows me to knit by looking at what I knit before just hasn't happened.

It's lovely and huge! I know I will love it, but I won't be wearing it anytime soon. Second clue is posted and I still haven't finished the first. I knit 2-4 rows and then take a break. Am I the only one finding this slow going?
